Supporting mothers shouldn’t stop when parental leave begins.
Pregnancy, parental leave and the transition back to work are some of the biggest changes an employee will navigate — personally and professionally.
And while Norway can offer significant structural support for new parents, parental leave can still be an unexpectedly isolating time, particularly for women building a family far from their own support network.
The Village at Work helps employers extend meaningful support beyond the workplace.
Through The Village Oslo, employees can access expert-led support, practical resources and, perhaps most importantly, a real community of mothers to move through this season alongside.
Because becoming a mother changes much more than a work schedule.
A different kind of employee benefit
The Village Oslo is an English-speaking motherhood community in Oslo supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, babyhood and toddlerhood.
We bring together evidence-informed expert support with something that’s much harder to put into an employee handbook:
a village.
A place where mothers can ask questions, learn, meet other women, bring their babies and toddlers, and build relationships during a period of life that can otherwise feel surprisingly disconnected.
Through The Village at Work, companies can provide employees with access to this community as part of their parental and family benefits.
What employees receive
A Village at Work partnership can include:
Expert-led gatherings
Practical, evidence-informed sessions around pregnancy, postpartum recovery, infant development, feeding, maternal wellbeing, toddlerhood and more.
Real-life community
Relaxed Village Cafés and members-only gatherings designed for mothers to meet and build genuine relationships over time.
Babies + toddlers are welcome
Our gatherings are built around the reality of motherhood. Feeding, crying, naps, movement and interruptions are expected here.
The Village Library
Practical guides, selected session resources and educational materials mothers can return to when they need them.
Private community
Access to our members-only WhatsApp group for connection between gatherings.
Support beyond the newborn stage
The Village doesn’t end when maternity leave does. Our community and programming continue through babyhood and toddlerhood.
Especially valuable for international employees
Building a family away from your original support network can make an already enormous transition feel even bigger.
Many international mothers in Oslo are navigating motherhood without grandparents nearby, without longstanding friendships in the same life stage, and sometimes without knowing how or where to find local support.
The Village Oslo is primarily English-speaking and was created with this reality in mind.
For international employers and globally mobile teams, The Village at Work can provide something relocation packages and traditional employee benefits often cannot:
a local community during motherhood.
Why this matters at work, too
Motherhood doesn’t exist separately from a woman’s working life.
Pregnancy, parental leave and returning to work can reshape routines, relationships, confidence, priorities and support needs.
The Village at Work isn’t medical care, therapy or a replacement for an employer’s existing parental benefits.
It complements them.
By giving mothers access to trusted information, practical support and meaningful community during this transition, employers can demonstrate that support for employees extends beyond the moment they leave — or return to — the office.
An employee benefit designed for a life stage traditional benefits often struggle to reach.
How the pilot works
The Village at Work is launching with a small number of founding employer partners in Oslo.
The pilot is intentionally simple.
Your organization provides eligible employees with access to The Village Oslo for an agreed period. We handle the community, programming and employee experience.
Together, we can agree on the number of employees included and the most relevant access model for your organization.
As a founding employer, you’ll also have the opportunity to help us shape how The Village at Work develops for future workplaces.

Already growing in Oslo
The Village Oslo is already bringing mothers together through expert-led gatherings, community events, member spaces and practical resources. Our gatherings regularly fill, mothers return across multiple events, and many join because they are looking for exactly what is often hardest to find during motherhood: consistent, local community.
What mothers are saying
“The Village Oslo is such an important and much-needed community for mothers. l've already learned a lot through the events and expert sessions, but just as valuable are the conversations shared by the other moms. It's a welcoming space where you can ask questions, share experiences, and feel understood by women going through similar things. I love that it brings together both practical support and genuine connection. It makes motherhood feel a little less overwhelming.”
“Thank you for last workshop and gathering with Ute. I found it very grounded and informing! Already booked a session with her!
I love what you are developing and the idea about the Village. It is so important and so needed!
(…) I believe it will be very supportive for many mothers.”
“I enjoyed a lot this stress free way to gather with a little baby community; usually it's a lot of logistics to plan and and you provided everything we could wish for (healthy snack/drink/toys/tent/mammas with common interest to connect) and it was no stress to be late or anything.
Thank you!”
