A practical 2.5-hour first aid course for parents and caregivers in English

Monday, November 9

10:00–12:30

Titt-tei Café, Oslo

If your baby was choking, stopped breathing, was badly burned or seriously injured — would you know what to do?

Most of us hope we will never need these skills. But knowing what to do in those first few minutes can make an enormous difference.

For this special Village gathering, we’re bringing in experienced first aid instructor Ulf Breisnes for a practical 2.5-hour course focused specifically on first aid for babies and children.

This isn’t about leaving with more things to worry about.

It’s about leaving feeling more prepared, more confident and better able to act if something ever does happen.

What we’ll cover

The course will focus on practical first aid for babies and children, including:

  • CPR for babies and children

  • Choking and objects stuck in the airway

  • What to do in an emergency and when/how to call for help

  • Burns and scalds

  • Cuts, bleeding and injuries

  • Recovery position

  • Allergic reactions and poisoning

  • Other common situations parents and caregivers may encounter

The course includes both theory and practical first aid training, with hands-on practice as appropriate for the session.

Ulf places a strong emphasis on making first aid feel simple, approachable and manageable — with the aim that you leave feeling more capable of responding in a real-life emergency.

Meet Ulf

Ulf Breisnes works full-time teaching first aid to both organisations and private groups.

He has worked within safety and security for more than 30 years and spent nine years volunteering with the Norwegian Red Cross rescue service, including first aid duties, search operations and first aid training.

Ulf is an instructor in several recognised Norwegian first aid programmes, including Norsk Grunnkurs Førstehjelp Barn, basic CPR and CPR/AED training.

His approach is centred around creating a comfortable learning environment where participants can practise, ask questions and build confidence — not feel afraid of getting something wrong.

Partners are very welcome 🤍

This is one of those gatherings where we think it makes especially good sense for both parents to come.

Partners are therefore very welcome, and we have created a special member + partner price for Village families.

Babies and young children are welcome too, as always.

About Titt-tei Café

We’ll have Titt-tei Café privately for The Village during the course, including access to their indoor play area for the children.

Titt-tei is a family café and play space in Løren, designed especially with parents and little ones in mind. It’s a really lovely place to spend time with babies and toddlers — relaxed, welcoming and very easy to be in with children.

Their coffee is genuinely very good ☕️ and participants will be able to purchase coffee, drinks and food throughout the gathering.

They also have food options suitable for babies and toddlers, which is very handy if someone gets hungry halfway through the course 😅

If your little one will be using the playroom, remember to bring socks 🧦

Tickets:

Village member — 449 NOK

Village member + partner — 849 NOK total

Non-member — 599 NOK per adult

This is a specialist workshop with a dedicated external instructor and private venue, so unlike most Village gatherings it is not fully included in membership. Members receive a significantly reduced rate.

Spaces are limited.

Ready to feel a little more prepared?

We hope you never need to use these skills.

But if you do, we want you to know what to do. 🤍
